WARDOGS Troubleshooting & Fixes

Troubleshoot WARDOGS joining, queues, missing files, voice chat and GPU crashes, separating official patch changes from general PC checks.

FAQ

Should I reinstall WARDOGS when the queue is long?
Check the official incident feed first. Reinstalling does not solve admission limits or scheduled maintenance.
Should I launch WARDOGS Playtest?
For paid Early Access, use WARDOGS in your Steam Library. The September beta's Playtest application is a separate historical access route.
Does a published crash fix guarantee my issue is resolved?
No. Update the client, compare your symptom with the fix and preserve the error or crash-report ID if it persists.

Start with the symptom, not a reinstall

First check the official announcement feed for an incident or maintenance. Then confirm Steam is launching WARDOGS rather than WARDOGS Playtest, and install any pending game update. The old beta download and invitation instructions do not apply to the paid Early Access client.

The steps below distinguish published fixes from general troubleshooting suggestions. They are not proof of a currently active outage and cannot guarantee a fix on every PC.

Cannot join, unexpected kick, or a long queue

Official history: Launch Stability Hotfix #1 on September 10 targeted these three symptoms. During its rollout players had to install the game update, relaunch and wait for controlled admission. Do not interpret this past incident as a permanent instruction to keep restarting.

If an incident is active, follow its current instructions. Otherwise compare a different server and note whether the issue affects one operator or every server. Keep the exact message: a ban, connection failure and capacity queue need different responses. A community ban should be addressed with that operator; do not try to bypass it.

Game will not launch or files appear missing

General Steam troubleshooting: after checking the correct application and pending downloads, open Library → WARDOGS → Properties → Installed Files → Verify integrity of game files. Allow verification to finish before testing again.

Record any anti-cheat or security message instead of deleting components or downloading replacement executables from third-party sites. Do not disable Windows security globally. The current Steam listing identifies Elytra as kernel-level anti-cheat; old Easy Anti-Cheat-specific instructions should not be applied automatically.

Voice chat disappears or cannot reconnect

The Season 1 launch changelog reports fixes for voice loss following a failed join, stale channels, push-to-talk targeting and re-login recovery, plus an on-screen communication status. Update the client before relying on a beta-era workaround.

General checks: confirm the intended input/output device, microphone permission and push-to-talk binding; then inspect the in-game communication status. The September beta suggestion to toggle Voice Chat off and on was a temporary response to a dated incident, not a confirmed cure for every current problem.

GPU crash, hitching or unstable performance

The launch baseline includes frame-generation crash fixes and reduced shadow-cache refreshes. Patch 0.11 lists further GPU-crash work, with deployment completion not confirmed by this review. Neither statement proves that a particular GPU now reaches a specified frame rate.

General checks: compare your PC with the Steam requirements, use drivers from the GPU vendor, and change one graphics setting at a time so you can identify what helps. Avoid unverified launch flags, registry edits and downloaded configuration packs. Keep any crash-report ID for support.

Make a useful support report

  • Include the time and time zone, game version, exact error and steps that reproduce it.

  • For joining issues, include server name/ID and region, and whether another server works.

  • For crashes, include OS, CPU, GPU, RAM, graphics settings and crash-report ID if present.

  • Do not publish account credentials, authentication tokens or unrelated personal details in screenshots or logs.
