FAQ

How many players are in WARDOGS?
WARDOGS is designed for matches with up to 100 players.
How many teams are there?
Three: Valkyra, Lonestar and Manticore.
Does WARDOGS have proximity chat?
Yes. Online multiplayer with proximity voice chat is listed by the developer on Steam.

The official Q&A describes a server browser rather than skill-based matchmaking.
What changes in WARDOGS Hardcore Mode?
BULKHEAD's announced community-server preset disables Killcam, reduces the HUD, limits the kill feed to squad information and forces first-person vehicle views.
What should I do if WARDOGS proximity chat disappears?
For the September 4 third-party service incident, WARDOGS recommends toggling Voice Chat off and back on in settings, then checking the newest official status post if it remains unavailable.

Choose Official or Community before joining

Official servers and community-hosted servers serve different needs. Community servers have their own operators and rules; read those rules before joining. Do not assume that a modified server advertises an officially supported progression rate.

Patch 0.11 announces separate server browsers for these two choices. At this review the deployment completion is unconfirmed, so your installed client may not yet match the announced layout.

Source status: Planned.

Find a community server and return to it

  • After the browser update is available in your client, use Community text search to look for the server name.

  • Check the Empty/Full controls and filters when a server seems missing; its absence from a filtered list is not proof it is offline.

  • The announced persistent server ID survives map changes and restarts. Save the ID supplied by the operator rather than relying only on similarly named servers.

  • Server favourites and priority queues are listed as upcoming, not shipped in this announcement.

Maintenance and login queues are different problems

The September 14 maintenance was scheduled for 08:00 UTC, approximately one hour. Check the official feed for a completion notice; this page is a dated guide, not a green/red uptime dashboard.

A login queue can be an admission-control measure rather than a fault in your installation. During the September 10 hotfix the studio admitted players in batches. Reinstalling the game does not create server capacity. If there is no official incident and only one server fails, compare another server before changing local settings.

Source status: Confirmed.

How WARDOGS multiplayer works

A match supports up to 100 players divided across Valkyra, Lonestar and Manticore. All three teams compete over a Control Zone inspired by King of the Hill.

Control Zone scoring

  • Every 30 seconds, the team with the most players in the Control Zone earns one point.

  • The first team to reach 100 points wins.

  • The Control Zone is randomized, so the main point of conflict can shift between matches.

Squads, roles and communication

WARDOGS includes proximity voice chat and a drop-in/drop-out structure. It does not lock players into set classes; equipment purchases let players take on combat, medic, building, logistics or vehicle roles.

Server browser and team balance

The official Q&A video says WARDOGS uses a server browser rather than skill-based matchmaking. The same discussion frames winning as important but not the only measure of a good match, because cash earned through useful actions can still matter even when a team is behind.

BULKHEAD also describes ‘up to 100 players’ as a server maximum rather than a mandatory population. Server administrators can use a lower cap, and long matches are expected to see players join and leave.

That makes multiplayer content stronger when it explains both layers: the team objective and the player’s personal cash economy.

Why up to 100 players does not always mean equal teams

BULKHEAD describes the player count as ‘up to 100’ and notes that long sessions can have players dropping in and out. For the site, avoid promising perfectly even 33-player teams at every moment; explain that the three-faction structure is the intended format while live server population can move during a session.

Source status: Planned.

Community servers and Hardcore Mode

BULKHEAD’s Addressing Feedback video describes a community-server Hardcore Mode with Killcam disabled, a reduced HUD, a squad-only kill feed and first-person-only vehicle views.

Earlier developer material described persistent Cash and XP on official servers and community servers within approved balance limits. For current play, use the September 12 official economy-abuse rules and check the server’s settings; do not assume modified rewards are approved.

Source status: Time-sensitive.

September 4 proximity voice service notice

WARDOGS says a third-party outage affecting multiple games can make in-game voice chat disappear. The official temporary recovery step is to switch Voice Chat off and back on in settings. This service incident does not change proximity voice chat being a listed multiplayer feature.
