Use the current troubleshooting guide
This is a historical reference for the expired September Playtest. For the paid Early Access game, use WARDOGS in your Steam Library and open the current troubleshooting guide linked above. Do not select the old test application to resolve a current-game error.
Historical 5B and Missing Game Executable reports
During beta access, players reported a 5-byte download and missing-executable errors. Such a small download cannot contain a playable game. The reports establish a symptom; they do not establish the exact Steam depot cause.
A Playtest client update was announced on September 2, before the September 3–6 test window. Those dates are historical, not an instruction to reinstall that client now.
Historical voice-service workaround
On September 4, an acknowledged third-party voice outage prompted advice to toggle Voice Chat off and on. The Season 1 launch changelog later described voice-recovery fixes. Use current notices and the new guide before assuming the beta workaround applies.
