BULKHEAD’s Early Access commitment
BULKHEAD’s August Steam announcement and official ‘10 Reasons NOT to Buy’ video state that WARDOGS will not add monetization during Early Access beyond the optional Supporter Edition. This is the current published policy for the Early Access period, not a promise that every future post-1.0 business decision has already been made.
The Supporter Edition is the named exception
The paid Supporter Edition bundles three faction starter-weapon camos, a Littlebird ‘Taxi’ camo, a hideable scoreboard supporter icon and two bobbleheads. It does not list Cash, Gold Bars, weapons, vehicles or gameplay power.
Because this package contains camos, the precise policy is not ‘no paid cosmetic item has ever existed.’ The official boundary is that this optional edition is the sole Early Access exception and that camos will not be sold directly through an ongoing shop.
Source status: Confirmed.
Cash and Gold Bars cannot be purchased
BULKHEAD says in-game Cash and Gold Bars must be earned through play and will not be sold for real money. That is the most important pay-to-win boundary because Cash is tied to loadouts, equipment and vehicles, while Gold Bars belong to the planned long-term metagame.
The official policy does not mean every economy rule is final. Exchange rates, seasonal timing and the complete Black Market design remain development topics, but selling the two currencies is explicitly ruled out in the published statements checked here.
Source status: Confirmed.
Camos are intended to signal achievement
In the official Q&A and August video, BULKHEAD says ordinary camos should show what a player achieved rather than how much money they spent. The studio’s stated policy is not to allow direct camo purchases, with the disclosed Supporter Edition cosmetics remaining the Early Access exception.
Source status: Unconfirmed.
What BULKHEAD says about after version 1.0
BULKHEAD has not promised a permanently monetization-free game after version 1.0. The August video says long-term servers, anti-cheat updates, player Vault storage, statistics, telemetry and continued development create ongoing costs that may eventually need support after base-game sales slow.
No post-1.0 subscription, shop, product, price or start date is confirmed. Ideas discussed by individuals or in community threads should not be presented as the final WARDOGS business model.
Source status: Planned.
Price increases are separate from microtransactions
BULKHEAD describes a stair-stepped base-game price: $39.99 during the initial Early Access stage, a planned $49.99 step after relevant development milestones and $59.99 when the intended 1.0 content and metagame are delivered. Those are product-price targets, not an in-game cash shop.
Only the current Steam checkout price is live. Future target prices have no published effective dates and regional prices can differ.
Source status: Confirmed.
The clip contest is a marketing expense
BULKHEAD’s September 4 response says the $100K Clip Contest is funded from the WARDOGS marketing budget, not the game-development budget or player pre-orders. That clarification concerns promotional spending; it does not change the separate Early Access policy on Cash, Gold Bars, camos or the Supporter Edition.
